Pre-Commission Chemical Cleaning

pre commission chemical cleaningPre commissioning cleaning of heating and chilled water systems has become more important over recent years, as modern systems require a higher standard of cleanliness prior to commissioning. This will ensure the systems run more efficiently.

System contaminants such as millscale, jointing compounds and fabricating debris need to be removed by chemical cleaning. This in return will allow the systems to work effectively and prevent corrosion and microbiological growth problems.

New Systems

Dosing rigs are available to Hire while pressure testing

Newly installed pipe work frequently contain contaminants which need to be professionally removed to achieve optimum results in how the system works. Flushing of the pipe work with water alone is not sufficient to remove contaminants which adhere to the surfaces of the pipes.

R.E.S work to the latest BSRIA.BG/2012 guidelines. The following stages of service include:

  • Inspection of the system to identify ideal positions for the flushing points
  • Establishing how the flushing velocities are to be achieved
  • Flushing the system with water at high velocity
  • Checking /cleaning strainers and any filters
  • Add biocide wash to breakdown any bio films and kill any bacteria
  • Adding a chemical cleaner to the system to remove grease, oil, corrosion deposits and to mobilise any suspended solids present.
  • Testing the water for the presence of increasing iron
  • Flushing the system at high velocity to remove all cleaning contaminants
  • Checking /cleaning strainers and any filters
  • Back flush all units, e.g FCU'S, AHU'S and any other units
  • Add inhibitor and biocide to prevent system from corroding and microbiological growth
  • Samples to be taken to ensure levels are at acceptable parameters
  • Monitoring and sampling from final certification to practical completion

Fit-Out Systems

With fit-out systems that need to be pre-commission cleaned, we have the availability to use temporary pumps for the use in sectional work following the BSRIA methodology above.
